Urbana University, Urbana, Ohio
Registration Opens: Monday, April 5th
Conference Overview
Thursday evening, August 5th, will feature a pizza party at the Urbana University Library followed by a private tour of Piatt Castles.
Friday, August 6th, will not only focus on the rich history of libraries, it will also take an exciting look at what libraries are doing today. The day will begin with a keynote presentation by Christopher Lowell. Christopher is a marvelous Benjamin Franklin interpreter who will deliver a performance as Ben, in which he will discuss his love for books and the founding of the Nation’s first library system.
You can learn more about Chris by checking out his website www.benfranklinlive.com.
Other highlights of the day include various informative sessions, a look into the history of fellow OPAL libraries, and tours of the Johnny Appleseed Museum.
* In keeping with the historic theme of the day, we are inviting libraries to send in a “library antique” of their own. This should be an item that was once commonly used in libraries, and that is all but obsolete today. We will be putting these items on display for everyone to see.
